Small Batch Cinnamon Rolls
The first of many trials to come...
I really like cinnamon rolls and they are one of the favorite things I bake that my family enjoys.
I've read so many different recipes, especially small batch, that I've got to try them. Maybe not all of them...maybe.
- https://www.dessertfortwo.com/small-batch-cinnamon-rolls/ - makes 7 or 8
- https://www.dessertfortwo.com/quick-cinnamon-rolls-for-two/ - makes 4 and doesn't require yeast
- https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/small-batch-cinnamon-rolls-recipe - makes 2
I tried 2 of the 3 recipes listed above...not a good substitute for my favorite RealSimple Cinnamon Roll Recipe from 2018.
I liked that the Quick Cinnamon Rolls didn't require yeast, meaning no rise time. While the flavor was good, the texture was different from what I am used to.
Next with the Small batch cinnamon rolls recipe from King Arthur Baking. The time and techniques were similar to that of my "norm" the results was just 2 cinnamon rolls. They were ok. Part of the issue could have been the chilliness of my kitchen affecting the rise and puffiness.
I also tried the KAB version with their Keto flour and baking sugar alternative. Uh, not my fav. Again, the rise and puffiness was not as I would have expected and taste was not to my liking.
The dough had been smooth before baking but that's not how it came out.
I may try again with adjustments for the puffiness.
I didn't put the glaze nor cream cheese on them because I wanted to try them plan first. The cinnamon sugar flavor was good - both versions - but the dough/roll, a little different.
So, yes, I will continue to try these including a gluten-free version for my gluten sensitive friends. More to come....
