Great British Baking is BACK!

The new season of The Great British Bake-Off on Netflix premiered today with the debut of new co-host, Alison Hammond.

As far as I know she is not well known here in the States. I have to say, I really enjoyed her. I didn't have any "cringe" moments or anything. From what I have read, Alison Hammond is a British television presenter and actress. Bon Appetit magazine did an article referring to her as the antithesis to Matt Lucas. I remember her from one of the charity GBBO events and did pretty well, if I recall correctly.

The new season also includes a gentlemen doing sign language for one of the contestants that looks to have a Cochler Implant (guess on my part, they haven't said anything behind needing the signer for one of the contestants). Paul Hollywood started off softer, giving one of the contestants who was super nervous a hug.

Continuing the "newness", there are new challenges this year. The vertical roll cake, animal cake and recreating the chocolate cake with the raspberries from the opening credits (sparking debate on whether or not to including the missing raspberry) were this week. I will be doing my homework before the next episode, learning all of the names and selecting my favorite baker for this season.  I have a couple in the running already.

Netflix shows the Tuesday UK run of each new episode on Fridays. It is a great way to end the week, I just have to be cautious about not catching updates from online news.
